Drink of the month: Hermanos Locos, October 2018
It has come to that time again, drink of the month. It has been a tough choice for October with so many great submissions. Last month we had a great twist on the whisky sour that came from the ODK team in Sweden.
ODK bartenders and baristas around the world never fail to disappoint with their submissions. This month however it is the ODK team in Greece who have got it with the incredible Hermanos Locos.
Featuring not one but four different ODK cocktail syrups, this cocktail is not a quick fix. First you have to put together the tasty Tropical Mix, which is one of the main ingredients in this cocktail. Once you have your Tropical Mix ready you can make the incredibly tasty Hermanos Locos in a few minutes. Here is how…
To make the Tropical mix.
Put the chopped pineapple and the rest of the syrups in a vacuum bag and cook at 50 degrees celsius for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Afterwards ice bath the bag until cool and squeeze it hard for the pineapple juices to extract. Single strain it in a glass bottle adn you have your Tropical Mix! You can store it in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
50 ml vodka
35 ml Tropical mix.
15 ml Fresh pink grapefruit juice
Top with soda water.
Method: Pour vodka, tropical mix and grapefruit juice into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Single strain into a glass and top with soda.
